Located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula Tahquamenon Falls State Park in paradise MI is a beautiful vacation destination for families or adventure seekers. Consisting of almost 50,000 acres and stretching more than 13 miles this park is centered around the majestic Tahquamenon Falls. The upper fall is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi river with a drop of nearly 50 feet, 200 feet across and with a maximum flow of up to 50,000 gallons per second. The river features amber color water is caused by tannins leached from the cedar, spruce and hemlock in the swamps drained by the river. 4 miles downstream are the Lower Falls, which consists of a series of five smaller falls cascading around an island.

Park activities include Camping, Fishing, Hiking, Hunting, Wildlife viewing, Nature programs, Paddle sports, Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing, Cross country skiing, and Winter camping. The park provides adequate facilities for those who want it as well as walk in rustic sites for those who prefer a slightly off the beaten path approach.

The Tahquamenon River offers a variety of fish species for the seeking anglers. Brown trout, Northern Muskellunge, Northern pike, yellow perch, Small mouth bass and more are frequently caught in the river.
